Laura Linney is an American actress who is famous for her portrayal of strong but vulnerable characters. Her father was a renowned playwright. However, Linney was raised as an only child with a single mother and nurse. During the summers when she was with her father, Linney developed a passion for theatre. Her first stage experience was first through Brown University then at Juilliard School. Her career began on Broadway soon after graduation, she debuted on film in just two years and on television following a year. Her appearances have been on a variety of stages, films and television programs since. She has been awarded numerous prizes throughout her career. This includes 4 Primetime Emmy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, three Academy Award Nominations, and five Tony Award Nominations.
