Patricia Ann was a teacher at the local college. She received her degree in chemical engineering to emulate her father. But because she wanted to pursue her dream as an actress, she moved into New York to try her chance in the movie industry. As she appeared in Broadway plays, she also worked as a server at an adjacent restaurant. She appeared in as a guest on the tv show "Felicity." This was here that she met Scott Foley, her first husband. She got her big break with the action-thriller "Alias." Her first lead role was in the widely praised romance "13 Going on 30." The film starred her as a teenager who found herself locked in the body a 30-year-old. Garner chose Gary Winick to direct the film. They were looking at other projects together until his death in 2011. Garner began his role as an ambassador for Save the Children U.S.A. in 2009. This position focuses on the promotion of nutrition and literacy in the United States and early schooling. Since 2014, Garner has been a participant on the board of trustees of this organization, pushing for early learning for children. Garner has visited many families as part of Early Steps to School Success the program created to help parents understand how to help their child's education - acting as an ambassador.
